Overview

 

Actemium Design UK is currently producing the design of the Process Plant and Equipment (PP&E) to deliver an enduring manufacturing capability for a key customer in the defence industry. The Central Engineering Team (CET) comprises of engineering capability from the client organisation, plus Subject Matter Experts (SME) from their supply chain. The purpose of the CET is to act as an Intelligent Client (IC) on behalf of the customer, liaising with the suppliers of professional services and equipment vendors to ensure consistency and standardisation in the design of the process systems.

 

The Role

There is a requirement within the CET for 1 Principal Mechanical Engineer with the ability to produce substantiation reports which will underpin the design of the various process systems. 

 
The role requirements include: 

  • The ability to author detailed technical documents, including Design Substantiation Reports (DSR) 
  • Reviewing existing safety case documentation and identifying potential shortfalls in the design 
  • Liaising with designers and equipment vendors to gather information 
    Interrogating the Engineering Schedule and evidencing claims made against Systems, Structures, and Components (SSC) in the documentation 
  • Interfacing with other stakeholders such as Human Factors, Fire Safety, Criticality, and the client Technical Authority 

Profile

The Person

  • Degree with honours or Level 6 equivalent 
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent 
  • Several years experience working in design engineering]
  • Several years experience working within a highly regulated industry (preferably nuclear) 
  • Experience of participating in the HAZID / HAZOP process (preferably as part of the AWE design lifecycle) 
  • Microsoft Office suite
